Expanding to More Platforms
In ProgressAdding more social media sites so we can broaden our impact. Reddit up and running already, Twitter development is ongoing, and Threads is likely next after that.
The project is growing and working to fight a big problem. The tool aims to be a way for a relatively small number of people to make a big difference.

Creating a system whereby users can propose and vote on changes to Cause text (since those guide the actions we all take), as well as advocate for new Causes. In the future this will be formalized (think Wikipedia but with voting), but in the meantime we have a Discord server where we can all chat and talk about how to refine the Causes, future Causes we should add, and just generally talk about how to stop the world from tearing itself apart, no big deal. Download the browser extension to get an invite to the Discord server.
Add a mobile app so you can support your Causes on your phone. This will also make it much easier for the network to expand.
Right now everything is done by hand by volunteers and staff — from categorizing inbound posts, deciding what to like, writing comments to be sent out to users, etc. If lots more people want to volunteer for that kind of work, we can keep expanding the network that way, including adding new Causes. If, however, there aren't as many volunteers with time to draft actions AI could help with backend tasks. If we go down that path, we would be very, very careful about the rollout and all draft actions would still have to be approved by people. We've done some early experimentation, and getting AI to properly understand a Cause and propose the right actions requires extensive configuration work, and all drafts still need human review. So please do volunteer if you have the time and want to help!
Even with volunteers, Cause Amp still needs money to function. Right now, our approach is to sell the software to political campaigns. Political campaigns (good ones anyway) have volunteers who want to help the campaign, and Cause Amp is an amazing tool to help coordinate those volunteers to support the campaign. Hopefully this will be a really successful business that will generate the money we need to support more public Causes (which cost a lot of time and money to setup and run on an ongoing basis, but are of course the whole point).
Cause Amp is currently run as part of Opal Data Consulting, a data science and software consulting firm (which you can read more about here if you want to learn about the people behind the project: opal-data.com). This is a passion project for us, but also something that we hope grows into something much larger than Opal Data. Right now we're spending all our time focused on making the platform and the movement work, but once things start accelerating we'll set up Cause Amp as it's own entity.
If you want to volunteer, have questions about Cause Amp, or otherwise want to talk please send us an email at info@causeamp.org or chat with us on Discord (get your invite inside the browser extension).
